6th Annual Green Hill Park Kite Festival - Roanoke/Salem, VA April 15th

The Green Hill Park Festival is one of the RAF's premier events of the year.  The city of Roanoke really helps us put on a great show, providing us with hotel rooms, breakfast and lunch on the field, and a general feeling of support and good will.  If you haven't signed up for this event already, get in touch with Terry Murray via email at 1kitebus@comcast.net.

Directions to the Hampton Inn:

From Rt. 81 heading SOUTH:

Take the first Salem exit (Exit 141).
    Note:  Don't take 581 to Roanoke, go past that exit to Exit 141.

Turn RIGHT off of the exit ramp onto Rt. 419 South.
    Note:  Just after you come off the exit ramp, you should see a Baymont Inn, a Quality Inn, and a Burger King.

Go 4.4 miles on Rt. 419 South (Electric Road)

The Hampton Inn is on your left 1000 yards after you cross Apperson Road, just in front of Lewis-Gale Hospital and across from the Ridgewood Farms Shopping Center.  The hotel phone is (540) 776-6500.

From Rt. 460 heading WEST:

Take 460 into Roanoke, where it changes to Orange Avenue, then Melrose Avenue, then E. Main Street just as it crosses Electric Road.

Turn LEFT on Rt. 419 (Electric Road).

Go 2.5 miles on Rt. 419 (Electric Road).

The Hampton Inn is on your left 1000 yards after you cross Apperson Road, just in front of Lewis-Gale Hospital and across from the Ridgewood Farms Shopping Center.  The hotel phone is (540) 776-6500.

Directions to Green Hill Park from the Hampton Inn:

Turn RIGHT onto Electric Road (Rt. 419) from the Hamton Inn (going back the way you came in).

Go 0.5 miles on Electric Road and Turn LEFT at the first light onto Apperson Road.

Go 1.5 miles on Apperson Road to 7th Street and turn LEFT onto 7th Street.

Go 0.4 miles on 7th Street and turn LEFT at the next light onto 4th Street.

Go 0.9 miles on 4th Street and turn LEFT at the 2nd light onto Main Street

Go 2 miles on Main Street past all the shopping centers, Wal-Mart, K-Mart, etc. to the 6th light.  Turn LEFT onto Diuguid's Road.

The entrance to Green Hill Park is 0.3 miles on the RIGHT.
